Another Thrush that Feeds on Devil's Walkingstick

Eastern Bluebird Eating berries of Hercules Club. Photo by Ken Januski.

It's been years since I've posted to this blog, mainly due to lack of time. But well-intentioned naturalists and others continue to target this plant as an invasive, certainly here in Philadelphia, and birds, like the Eastern Bluebird above, continue to eat the ones that survive.

The only good thing you can say is that they seem to seed themselves easily enough that perhaps they'll be able to be victorious over those who attempt their eradication. But if you've ever tried to remove an 'undesirable' plant, as we once did with violas because there were just too many, one day you may get your wish -- and then regret it.
